Entropy rigidity for cusped Hitchin representations

From MaRDI portal

The main result of the paper under review is entropy rigidity theorem for Hitchin representations of geometrically finite Fuchsian groups which generalizes a result of \textit{R. Potrie} and \textit{A. Sambarino} [Invent. Math. 209, No. 3, 885--925 (2017; Zbl 1380.30032)] from the classical setting. Let \((\mathfrak{a}^{\star})^{+}\) denote the set of linear functionals that are strictly positive on the interior of standard positive Weyl chamber for PGL\((d,\mathbb{R}).\) Each \(\phi\in (\mathfrak{a}^{\ast})^{+}\) can be written as a non-negative linear combination of the standard simple roots \(\{\alpha_{i=1}^{d-1}\) that define the standard positive Weyl chamber. If \(\phi\in (\mathfrak{a}^{\star})^{+},\) we obtain a length function on \(\rho(\Gamma)\) given by \(\ell^{\phi}(\rho(\gamma))\) = \(\phi(\nu(\rho))\) where \(\nu(\rho(\gamma))\) is the Jordan projection of \(\rho(\gamma)\) (i.e., the logarithms of the moduli of generalized eigenvalues of \(\rho(\gamma)\) in descending order). The \(\phi\)-entropy \(h^{\phi}(\rho)\) of Hitchin representation is then the exponential growth rate of the number of conjugacy classes of hyperbolic elements whose images have \(\phi\)-length at most \(T.\) Given a subgroup \(\Gamma\subset\) PSL(d,\(\mathbb{R}\)), the \textit{Zariski closure} of \(\Gamma\) in PSL(d,\(\mathbb{R}\)) is the intersection of its Zariski closure in PGL(d,\(\mathbb{R}\)) with PSL(d,\(\mathbb{R}\))\NWe recall that \textit{A. Sambarino} [J. Differ. Geom. 128, No. 2, 861--901 (2024; Zbl 1555.17014)] showed that the Zariski closure in PSL(d,\(\mathbb{R}\)) of the image of a Hitchin representation is either all of PSL(d,\(\mathbb{R}\)), an irreducible image of PSL(2,\(\mathbb{R})\) within PSL(d,\(\mathbb{R}),\) or conjugate to either PSO(d,d-1)\(\subset\) PSL(2d-1,\(\mathbb{R}\)),\NPSp(2d,\(\mathbb{R}\))\(\subset\) PSL(2d,\(\mathbb{R}\)), or the copy of \(G_2\) in PSL(7,\(\mathbb{R}.\)\N\NLet us formulate the main theorem.\N\N\textbf{Theorem} If \(\Gamma\subset\) PSL(2,\(\mathbb{R}\)) is geometrically finite, \(\rho:\Gamma\to \)PSL(d,\(\mathbb{R}\)) is Hitchin and \(\phi = \sum c_j\alpha_j \in (\mathfrak{a}^{\star})^{+}\),then \N\[\Nh^{\phi}(\rho)\leq \frac{1}{c_1 + c_2 + ... + c_{d-1}}.\N\]\NMoreover, equality occurs if and only if \(\Gamma\) is a lattice and either\N\N(1) \(\phi = c_k\alpha_k\) for some \(k.\)\N\N(2) \(\rho(\Gamma)\) lies in an irreducible image of PSL(2,\(\mathbb{R}\)).\N\N(3) \(d = 2n - 1,\) the Zariski closure of \(\rho(\Gamma)\) is conjugate to PSO(n,n-1) and \(\phi = c_k\alpha_k\) + \(c_{d-k}\alpha_{d-k}\) for some \(k.\)\N\N(4) d = 2n, the Zariski closure of \(\rho(\Gamma)\) is conjugate to PSp(2n,\(\mathbb{R}\)) and \(\phi = c_k\alpha_k + c_{d-k}\alpha_{d-k}\) for some \(k.\) \N\N(5) d = 7, the Zariski closure of \(\rho(\Gamma)\) is conjugate to \(G_2\) and \(\phi = c_1\alpha_{1} + c_3\alpha_3 + c_4\alpha_4 + c_6\alpha_6\) or \(\phi c_2\alpha_2 +C_5\alpha_5.\)
