Exponential stability of positive implicit dynamic equations with constant coefficients

From MaRDI portal

The authors establish unified characterizations for positivity and exponential stability in positive implicit dynamic equations (IDEs). Their analysis begins with a complete investigation of the IDE's positivity. This treatment generalizes previous findings on positivity in linear dynamic equations, differential-algebraic equations, and implicit difference equations found in the existing literature.\N\NA central contribution involves the examination of uniform exponential stability for positive IDEs. The authors prove that such systems exhibit positive uniform exponential stability on time scales precisely when the characteristic polynomial of the governing matrix pair displays coefficients with uniform signs. This criterion offers a computationally accessible method for verifying stability. The study further reveals an important connection between discretization methods and stability preservation.
