Holomorphic automorphisms of quadrics

From MaRDI portal

In the paper the holomorphic automorphisms of any nondegenerate CR quadric \(Q\) of real codimension 2 in \(\mathbb{C}^ 4\) and \(\mathbb{C}^ 5\) are described by explicit formulas. This result was obtained by gradual normalization of the equation of \(Q\). The automorphisms are birational maps of degree not exceeding 2. The explicit formulas lead to the notion of chains, i.e., invariant 2- dimensional real submanifolds being analogous to the chains which were introduced by Chern and Moser in the case of hyperquadrics. These chains are exactly the intersections of the quadric with special 2-dimensional complex planes. The suggested approach could be also used to describe the automorphism groups of certain quadrics of codimension 3 in \(\mathbb{C}^ 6\).
