Howson groups which are not strongly Howson
This paper provides several examples for countable groups that are Howson but not strongly Howson.\N\NThe examples in consideration are \(F_n\times \left(\bigoplus_{m=2}^\infty \mathbb Z/m\mathbb Z\right)\) for \(n\ge 2\) and \(F_n\times \mathbb Q/\mathbb Z\) for \(n\ge 2\).\N\NThe paper also discusses the stability of the Howson property under taking subgroups and finite extensions as well as under extension of a Howson group by a locally finite group. It raises the question whether there exists a finitely generated (or finitely presented) group with the Howson property that is not strongly Howson.
