Infinite flags and Schubert polynomials
The so-called ``back stable Schubert polynomials (just like the closely related ``enriched Schubert polynomials) are a family of symmetric functions that arise from a specific ``backward-stabilizing limit of the classical Schubert polynomials. The paper under review interprets these polynomials in the geometry of a particular infinite dimensional flag variety, the Sato flag variety. The author gives alternative proofs of basic properties; for instance the Graham-positivity of the coefficients appearing in the equivariant coproduct expansion of these polynomials. These results in type C appear to be new. Geometric interpretations are given of various relations between types A and C.
