Modified product cubature formulae (Q1002177)

Starting with the well known blending interpolation formula, the authors constructed a cubature formula which involves few line integrals. This way, they obtained a generalization of the classical product of cubature formulae. This new type of cubature formulae contains two distinct parts: the first one is the classical product, while the second is the so called ``blending conterpart''. The cubature formulae obtained in this way are the ``modified product cubature formula'' or, shortly, MPCF. For the MPCF, the Peano kernels and the error bounds are determinated. Sufficient conditions for the definitness of the MPCF are given. Some classes of integrands for which a product cubature formula is inferior to a MPCF are specified and some examples are presented.
