The paper deals with the energy decay for nondissipative distributed systems with boundary damping and source terms. A wave equation in an \(n\)-dimensional domain with a smooth enough boundary is considered. It is assumed that the Neumann boundary conditions contain terms dependent on the previous history. For the linear equation the authors introduce a nonincreasing equivalent energy and then exponential and polynomial decay are proved. For the nonlinear equation the introduction of such an equivalent energy seems to be not possible. In this case exponential decay can be proved.
