One of the main goals of this paper is to extend some recent results on the fixed points of mappings in \(\text{CAT}(0)\) spaces to \(\text{CAT}(k)\) spaces with \(k>0\) under some boundedness conditions. The authors focus mainly on CAT(1) spaces. In particular, Kirk's fixed point theorem is proved for \(\text{CAT}(1)\) spaces. More precisely, if \(X\) is a complete nonempty \(\text{CAT}(1)\) space such that the Chebyshev radius of \(X:\text{rad}(X)<\frac{\pi}{2}\), then every nonexpansive mapping \(T:X\to X\) has a fixed point. It is also proved, by means of the so-called \(\Delta\)-convergence, that complete \(\text{CAT}(1)\) spaces possess the Kadec-Klee property. Moreover, the authors deal with the geometry of \(\text{CAT}(0)\) spaces, giving negative answers to two questions raised in [\textit{W.\,A.\thinspace Kirk} and \textit{B.\,Panyanak}, ``A concept of convergence in geodesic spaces'', Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl.\ 68, No.\,12 (A), 3689--3696 (2008; Zbl 1145.54041)]. In particular, it is proved that any \(\text{CAT}(0)\) space of constant curvature satisfies the so-called \((Q_4)\) condition. Moreover, any \(\text{CAT}(0)\) gluing space containing two spaces of constant but different curvature does not satisfy that condition. The authors also examine the Lifšic characteristic and the property (P) in \(\text{CAT}(k)\) spaces. In particular, they derive the conclusion that the Lifšic characteristic of a \(\text{CAT}(k)\) space for \(k<0\) is a continuous decreasing function on \(k\) which takes values in the interval \((\sqrt{2},2)\), giving a positive answer to the conjecture raised in [\textit{S.\,Dhompongsa, W.\,A.\thinspace Kirk} and \textit{B.\,Sims}, ``Fixed points of uniformly Lipschitzian mappings,'' Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl.\ 65, No.\,4 (A), 762--772 (2006; Zbl 1105.47050)]. Some fixed point theorems for uniformly Lipschitzian mappings in complete bounded \(\text{CAT}(k)\) spaces are also deduced.
