The authors present an application of the proof mining technique introduced by the first author in [Trans.\ Am.\ Math.\ Soc.\ 357, No.\,1, 89--128 (2005; Zbl 1079.03046)]. Generalizations (too involved to be quoted here) to unbounded convex subsets \(C\) of hyperbolic spaces are obtained for the results of \textit{R.\,Espínola} and \textit{W.\,A.\thinspace Kirk} [Taiwanese J.~Math.\ 5, No.\,2, 405--416 (2001; Zbl 0984.54045)]. The results are extended further to families of unbounded convex subsets of a hyperbolic space. The main tool of investigation is a quantitative version of a theorem due to \textit{J.\,Borwein, S.\,Reich} and \textit{S.\,Shafrir} [Can.\ Math.\ Bull.\ 35, No.\,1, 21--28 (1992; Zbl 0712.47050)]. The final section is devoted to a study of the notion of the uniform approximate fixed point property for sets \(C\) and classes of self-mappings of \(C\).
