The associated doodle of a finitely determined map germ \( f: ({\mathbb{R}}^2,0)\to ({\mathbb{R}}^3,0) \) is the curve obtained as the intersection of the image of a representative of \( f \) with a sufficiently small sphere centered at the origin in \( {\mathbb{R}}^3 \). For a large class of map germs, the associated doodle has many transversal self-intersections. The authors consider the topological classification of such map germs from the point of view of the associated doodle.
