The derivation of the Nordheim-Boltzmann transport equation for weakly interacting quantum fluids is a longstanding problem in mathematical physics. Inspired by the method developed to handle classical dilute gases, a conventional approach is the use of the BBGKY hierarchy for the time-dependent reduced density matrix. In contrast, the present contribution is motivated by the kinetic theory of the weakly nonlinear Schrödinger equation. The authors try to develop tools for dealing with the high-dimensional oscillatory integrals as they arise in the Duhamel expansion of the solution of the equation. In detail, the authors give a brief introduction to weakly interacting lattice bosons and lattice fermions. and they present the Duhamel expansion of the time-evolution operator. They explain how this expansion differs from the expansion resulting from the quantum BBGKY hierarchy and make a comparison with wave turbulence for the weakly nonlinear Schrödinger equation. The main finding is that the results obtained in the context of the kinetic theory of the weakly nonlinear Schrödinger equation carry over directly to weakly interacting quantum fluids provided one does not insist on normal order in the Duhamel expansion. The authors study the term by term convergence of the expansion. The two-time correlation function of the number density in thermal equilibrium and spatially homogeneous nonequilibrium states in the kinetic limit are discussed.
