Let \(E/\mathbb{Q}\) be an elliptic curve of rank 0 (over \(\mathbb{Q}\)) and conductor \(N\). For any prime \(p\) dividing \(N\) fix \(\omega_p=\pm 1\) and let \(\omega=\prod_{p|N} \omega_p\,\). The paper deals with the family of quadratic twists \(E_d\) with \(d<0\), odd and \(\left( \frac{d}{p} \right)=\omega_p\) for any \(p|N\) and, in particular, with their regulators in the rank 1 case. At first the authors provide bounds and heuristics on the regulators, the height of a generator of the Mordell-Weil group and the moments (of weight \(k>0\)) of the regulators for these curves. Then, assuming \(\omega_p=1\) for any \(p\), they describe some computational steps to find an Heegner point \(P_d\in E(\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{d}))\). If the method is succesfull, i.e., if the point \(P_d\) has infinite order, then it is used to provide a generator \(G_d\) of \(E_d(\mathbb{Q})\). Using a formula of \textit{B. Gross} and \textit{D. Zagier} [Invent. Math. 84, 225--320 (1986; Zbl 0608.14019)], one can compute the regulator of \(E_d\) via the height of \(G_d\). Assuming the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture (as is done in the whole paper) it is then possible to compute the order of the Tate-Shafarevich group as well. In the final section the authors show numerical data (including the extra-vanishing for the first derivative of the \(L\)-function of \(E_d\) in \(s=1\)) for various elliptic curves and compare the results with the heuristics provided before.
