The paper is concerned with the study of planetary geostrophic model of the ocean. It is been studied the existence and uniqueness of global weak solution to the model and the asymptotic behavior of the weak solutions and the stability of the stationary solutions. The author proves that any weak solution to the model converges exponentially in time to a weak solution to the primitive equation of the ocean if the data are small.
