The authors introduce a second-order generalised derivative for fuzzy maps \(f:[a,b]\to R_F\) and consider its properties, where \(R_F\) is the class of fuzzy subsets of the real axis (i.e., \(u:R\to [0,1]\)) satisfying the following properties: (i) \(u\) is normal; (ii) \(u\) is a convex fuzzy set; (iii) \(u\) is upper semicontinuous on R; (iv) \(cl\{\, s\in R\, |\, u(s)>0\,\}\) is compact. They take advantage for this purpose of Bede's approach [\textit{B. Bede} and \textit{S. G. Gal}, Fuzzy Sets Syst. 151, No.~3, 581--599 (2005; Zbl 1061.26024)].
