The idea of this paper is to show that cobordism classes of maps of manifolds with certain specified singularities are in fact part of a generalized cohomology functor. Thus, analogues of these singularities can be defined for maps \(f\) from a manifold into an arbitrary topological space. Of course, some nontrivial conditions on the type of the allowable singularities are necessary for this to be true; this is where the differential relations from the title of the paper come in. In particular, the singularities involved must include the folds, because a key input is Eliashberg's \(h\)-principle for folds described in [\textit{Y. Eliashberg} and \textit{N. Mishachëv}, Introduction to the \(h\)-principle. Mathematical Surveys and Monographs. 48, Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS) (2002; Zbl 1008.58001)], so the results do not apply to nonsingular maps. It was not even known before this paper that the cobordism classes were groups in general. The author asserts that the resulting infinite loop spaces are computationally approachable, but leaves this to future work.
