For every function \(f:[0,1]\to\mathbb{R}^+\) there is a relation \(E_f\) on \([0,1]^\omega\) such that \[ (x_n) E_f (y_n)\iff \sum\limits_{n=0}^\infty f(|y_n-x_n|) < \infty. \] The following questions arise naturally: {\parindent=6mm \begin{itemize}\item[(1)] Is \(E_f\) an equivalence relation? \item[(2)] Which equivalence relations can be obtained in the form \(E_f\)? \item[(3)] For which functions \(f,g:[0,1]\to [0,1]\) is \(E_f\) Borel-reducible to \(E_g\)? \end{itemize}} In the paper, the authors give an answer to question (1), initiate a study of question (2), and provide various conditions on \(f\) and \(g\) with respect to question (3).
