Since Connes initiated noncommutative differential geometry [\textit{A. Connes}, C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. A 290, 599--604 (1980; Zbl 0433.46057)], the theory has flourished in different areas and has motivated new ideas in various fields. Connes and Rieffel's Yang-Mills theory for noncommutative torus [\textit{A. Connes} and \textit{M. A. Rieffel}, Contemp. Math. 62, 237--266 (1987; Zbl 0633.46069)] is one of these examples, using the framework of noncommutative geometry to extend Yang-Mills theory to finitely generated projective modules over noncommutative \(C^*\)-algebras. Using noncommutative geometrical methods developed by Connes and Rieffel [loc. cit.], the author attempts to develop Yang-Mills theory on quantum Heisenberg manifolds, and discuss the Yang-Mills functional and a certain family of its critical points on quantum Heisenberg manifolds. The author constructs a certain family of connections on a projective module over a quantum Heisenberg manifold that gives rise to critical points of the Yang-Mills functional and show that there is a relationship between this particular family of critical points of the Yang-Mills functional and Laplace' equation on multiplication-type skew-symmetric elements of quantum Heisenberg manifolds. The last step of finding actual solutions of the Yang-Mills equation is related to solving an elliptic partial differential equation. The construction is systematic and clear.
