Let \(G\) be a connected reductive complex algebraic group with Borel subgroup \(B\). Let \(H\) be an observable subgroup, meaning that \(G/H\) is quasi-affine. A \(G\)-equivariant automorphism of \(G/H\) is called \textit{central} if it fixes every \(B\)-invariant rational function on \(G/H\). Let \(\mathfrak A\) be the abelian group of central automorphisms of \(G/H\). The author shows that \(G/H\) can be embedded into an irreducible \(G\)-module if and only if \(\mathfrak A\) is either finite cyclic or a one-dimensional torus. Now assume \(H\) is reductive, so that \(G/H\) is affine. Then he shows there is a closed embedding of \(G/H\) into an irreducible \(G\)-module if and only if \(\mathfrak A\) is finite.
