For a simple closed contour \(L\) in the complex plane and a shift function \(\alpha\) satisfying \(\alpha(\alpha(t))=t\) the nonlinear singular integral equation \[ \begin{multlined} a(t)u(t)+b(t)u(\alpha(t))+ {c(t)\over\pi i}\int_L{u(\tau)\over\tau-t}\,d\tau + {d(t)\over\pi i}\int_L{u(\tau)\over\tau-\alpha(t)}\,d\tau\\ - {1\over\pi i}\int_L\Bigl({\psi_1(\tau,u(\tau))\over\tau-t}+ {\psi_1(\tau,u(\tau))\over\tau-t}\Bigr)\,d\tau=0\end{multlined} \] is considered. Assuming that a solution \(u_0\) of the linearized problem is known and applying a Newton-Kantorovich theorem of \textit{P. P. Zabrejko} and \textit{D. F. Nguen} [Numer. Funct. Anal. Optimization 9, 671--684 (1987; Zbl 0627.65069)], criteria for the existence and uniqueness of a solution in a generalized Hölder space in a neighborhood of \(u_0\) are obtained together with a theoretical method to approximate the solution.
