The results of the integration, by fast Fourier transformation, of partial differential equations are presented for coupled heat and mass transfer, in a laminar falling film on an adiabatic wall. We give the transversal and longitudinal profiles of temperature and concentration for the example of the absorption of water vapor in a lithium bromide solution for the application of an absorption heat pump. We transform these results into general dimensionless functions which are applicable to other examples. Afterwards we propose a resolution of the same problem, using another dimensionless formulation, by the finite difference approximation, for the two cases corresponding to 'plug flow' and a parabolic velocity profile. The results of the three methods are compared.
