S. Bloch's conjecture asserts that \(T(X)=0\) for any projective surface X with \(p_ g(X)=0\) (here T(X) is the group of rational equivalence classes of zero-cycles of degree zero mapping to zero in Alb(X)). The conjecture was proved in the case of surfaces not of general type by \textit{S. Bloch, \textit{A. Kas}}, \textit{D. Lieberman} [Compos. Math. 33, 135-145 (1976; Zbl 0337.14006)] and checked for certain nonsimply connected surfaces by \textit{H. Inose} and \textit{M. Mikuzami} in Math. Ann. 244, 205- 217 (1979; Zbl 0444.14006)]. In the present paper it is proved that the simply connected surface of general type with \(p_ g=0\) introduced by the author [Invent. Math. 79, 293-301 (1985; Zbl 0561.14015)], has \(T=0\), and that the same property holds for Catanese's surface [see \textit{F. Catanese}, Invent. Math. 63, 433-465 (1981; Zbl 0472.14024)].
