Let X be a complex projective threefold having at most terminal singularities whose canonical divisor is numerical trivial. In this note, we sharpen a theorem of \textit{Y. Kawamata} [Math. Ann. (to appear; Zbl 0582.14015)] and show: if \(\chi\) (\({\mathcal O}_ X)\geq 2\) then the 12-th plurigenus \(P_{12}(X)\neq 0\), while if \(\chi\) (\({\mathcal O}_ X)=1\) then \(P_{120}(X)\neq 0\). Since Kawamata proved that \(\chi\) (\({\mathcal O}_ X)\geq 0\) with equality only if either \(P_ 1(X)\neq 0\) or X is nonsingular, our results can be combined with work of \textit{A. Beauville} [in Classification of algebraic and analytic manifolds, Proc. Symp., Katata/Jap. 1982, Prog. Math. 39, 1-26; Zbl 0537.53057)] to show that for all such threefolds, \(P_{m_ 1}(X)\neq 0\), where \(m_ 1\) is the least common multiple of all natural numbers m such that \(\phi\) (m)\(\leq 20\). (Explicitly, \(m_ 1=2^ 5\cdot 3^ 3\cdot 5^ 2\cdot 7\cdot 11\cdot 13\cdot 17\cdot 19.)\) The proof combines Kawamata's techniques with an analysis of certain finite group actions.
