\textit{F. A. Sherk} has found a new translation plane of order 27 [Geom. Dedicata 9, 307-316 (1980; Zbl 0393.51005)] and has given some properties of the translation complement \(\bar G\) of this new plane. The aim of this paper is to determine \(\bar G\) completely. It answers some conjectures of Sherk and of Ostrom on collineation groups of translation planes and corrects a statement of Sherk.
