Bounds for the limiting variance of the ''heavy particle'' in \(R^ 1\) (Q1074229)

Let \(q_ 0(t)\) be the displacement of the heavy particle (massive particle) considered in \textit{Ya. G. Sinaj} and \textit{M. R. Solovejchik}'s paper [see the foregoing review, Zbl 0589.60084]. This paper presents bounds of the limiting variance of \(t^{-1/2}q_ 0(t):\) \(m^ 2_ 2/m_ 3\leq \underline{\lim}_{t\to \infty}E(q_ 0(t)^ 2/t)\leq \overline{\quad \lim}_{t\to \infty}E(q_ 0(t)^ 2/t)\leq m_ 1,\) where \(m_ k=(2\pi)^{-1/2}\int^{+\infty}_{-\infty}| v|^ k\exp (-v^ 2/2)dv\). Sinaj and Solovejchik also get a lower bound by a different approach.
