Constitutive equations for a thermoelastic continuum in the framework of special relativity are considered. The entropy flux is assumed to have the form proposed by \textit{I. Müller} [e.g.: Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 34, 259-282 (1969; Zbl 0182.598)]. The set of constitutive variables chosen includes some variables which have not been previously included. It is stated that the next ansatz gives rise to a heat equation predicting a finite velocity of propagation for heat disturbances.
