Quadratic equations \(f(z)=c+Az+Bzz=0\) for \(z\in R^ m\) are considered. Sufficient conditions for an interval vector [z] to contain a solution, to contain a unique solution, or to contain no solution of \(f(z)=0\) are established. Methods how to find such vectors [z] are discussed. An iteration method is given that converges to a solution if it is unique in [z]. The results are gained by combining interval analytic fixed point theory and specific properties of the shape of f(z). Finally, the results are applied to the eigenvalue problem of matrices. A few numerical examples are shown.
