    The authors study the space of \({\mathfrak g}\)-homomorphisms between generalized Verma modules over a complex semisimple Lie algebra \({\mathfrak g}\) ''in the real rank one setting'' (\({\mathfrak g}\) being the complexification of a real rank one form \({\mathfrak g}_ 0)\). Let \(\mu =\) \({\mathfrak m} \oplus {\mathfrak a} \oplus {\mathfrak n}\) be the Langlands decomposition of the complexification of a minimal parabolic subalgebra of the Lie algebra \({\mathfrak g}_ 0\). Let \(U_{\gamma}\) be any irreducible finite-dimensional (\({\mathfrak m} \oplus {\mathfrak a})\)-module of highest weight \(\gamma\)-\(\rho\), extend \(U_{\gamma}\) to a \(\mu\)-module by letting \({\mathfrak n}\) act trivially. Define the generalized Verma module \(V(\gamma)=U({\mathfrak g})\otimes_{U(\mu)} U_{\gamma}\). The authors describe the structure of \(H^ 0({\mathfrak n},V(\gamma))\) as (\({\mathfrak m} \oplus {\mathfrak a})\)-module and prove that \(\dim Hom_{{\mathfrak g}}(V(\gamma),V(\gamma_ 1))\leq 1\) when V(\(\gamma)\) and \(V(\gamma_ 1)\) have regular infinitesimal characters.
