This note is concerned with stabilization of linear systems given by factorized transfer matrices containing parameters in some region. In case of an arbitrary number of unstable plant poles and of a proper feedback compensator a sufficient condition for robust stability is proved. Following this a two-step design procedure is formulated. First a Diophantine equation generates a class of proper compensators and then the final compensator results by minimizing a stability index inspired from the Nyquist theorem. An illustrative example is given. Finally, a discussion about the attainable robust stability region is included.
