Exact mathematical description of a neuron model is given, the binary output signal x(t) of which depends on the analog input signal a(t), diminished by the effect of past firings x(t-r), \(r=1,2,...\), representing attenuation exponentially decreasing with time. The paper considers motivation and related works and then investigates the case when both stimuli strings of a(t)'s and response strings of x(t)'s form periodical pulse sequences. For each natural m, the sets \(H_ m\), \(A_ m\), \(Q_ m\) of binary strings are defined: a response string belongs to \(H_ m\) iff there is a stimulus string with period m; \(A_ m\) is constructed by means of some number theoretical function (like rotations etc.) and does not refer to the neuron model; the same is true for the set \(Q_ m\) of uniform strings. It is proved that \(H_ m=A_ m=Q_ m\) so that formal properties of pulse sequences can be derived.
