Properties of an approximate \(\| \cdot \|\)-inverse \(G\) of a real matrix \(D\in \mathbb R^{(n+1)\times n}\) of rank \(n\) are investigated using any vector norm \(\| \cdot \|\) in \(\mathbb R^ m\). The approximate \(\| \cdot \|\)-inverse of \(D\in \mathbb R^{m\times n}\) is a generalized inverse \(G\) of \(D\) satisfying \(\| DGb-b\| =\min_{x\in \mathbb R^n}\| Dx-b\|\) for all \(b\in \mathbb R^m\). Assume \(D\in \mathbb R^{(n+1)\times n}\) and \(\text{rank}(D)=n\). Then \(D\) has an approximate \(\| \cdot \|\)-inverse \(G\) and every \(G\) has the form \(G=D^-(I_{n+1}-w^*w^ T)\), where \(D^-\) is a generalized inverse of \(D\), \(w\in \ker (D^ T)\), \(w^ Tw^*=1\), and \(w^*\) is a \(\| \cdot \|\)-dual vector to \(w\) which is defined by \(w^Tw^*=\max_{\| c\| =1}w^Tc\), \(\| w^*\| =1\) (Theorem~3). This result extends that one by \textit{D. Flores de Chela} [ibid. 26, 243--263 (1979; Zbl 0448.15005)]. The condition for a unique \(G\) is proved using the QR factorization of \(D\). The approximate \(l_p\)-inverses (1\(\le p\le \infty)\) of matrices in the block form \([I_n\otimes A\), \(B^T\otimes I_m]\) are investigated, where \(\otimes\) is the Kronecker product, \(m=r+1\), \(n=s+1\), \(I_ n\) is the unit matrix, \(A\in \mathrm R^{n\times r}\), \(B\in \mathrm R^{s\times n}\), \(\text{rank}(A)=r\), \(\text{rank}(B)=s\).
