An estimate for the remainder in the asymptotic expansion of the spectrum of pseudodifferential operators of negative order (Q1093091)

The spectrum of a pseudodifferential matrix operator of negative order is investigated. Though in general the estimate of the remainder in the spectral asymptotics depends strongly on the kind of degeneration of the eigenvalues of the matrix symbol, it is shown that it is possible to find rough but universal estimates of the remainder without any additional assumptions. These estimates are constructed and then used to estimate the remainder in some asymptotic formulas of Birman and Solomiak.
