A transformation is introduced that maps the infinite space into a finite one. This transformation is applied to the diffusivity equation describing slightly compressible fluid flow through a composite porous system composed of two concentric regions of different properties. The finite difference method is then used to obtain a numerical solution of the system. The effect of the radius of the inner region and the mobility ratio in the two regions on the pressure distribution and pressure history is discussed. The characteristics of the solution for both initial and later times are discussed and compared with the analytical solutions. A large number of graphs has been presented to explain the results. The paper will be useful for pretroleum engineers.
