The author presents a Galois theory of almost simple (a.s.) rings. These are defined as rings whose right socle is isotype and faithful on the left. They have been investigated in many papers of the author [e.g., Commun. Algebra 13, 1843-1898 (1985; Zbl 0572.16017)]. He shows that a.s. rings are a suitable class for establishing a Galois theory which uses not necessarily finite groups, sufficiently vast to include (skew-) fields, simple Artinian rings, completely primitive rings, rings of continuous transformations, and primitive rings with socle \(\neq 0\).
