A transitive filtered Lie algebra (TFLA) of depth \(d>0\) is a Lie algebra L (over a field of characteristic 0) endowed with a filtration \(L=L^{- d}\supset L^{-d+1}\supset...\supset L\quad n\supset...\) satisfying \([L\quad p,L\quad q]\subset L^{p+q},\quad \dim (L\quad p/L^{p+1})<\infty,\quad \cap L\quad p=\{0\}\) and \(L^{p+1}=\{x\in L\) p: \([x,L\quad q]\subset L^{p+q+1},\) for all \(q<0\}\). The author proves that such algebras have properties similar to those of transitive Lie algebras (TFLA's with \(d=1)\). For example, their r-th generalized Spencer cohomology groups vanish for large r. Also, a TFLA is completely determined by a certain truncated Lie algebra associated to it.
