\textit{I. B. Frenkel}, \textit{J. Lepowsky} and \textit{A. Meurman} have constructed a representation of the monster finite simple group on a certain vertex algebra associated to the Leech lattice [Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 81, 3256-3260 (1984; Zbl 0543.20016); see also \textit{R. E. Borcherds}, ibid. 84, 3068-3071 (1986; Zbl 0613.17012)]. This vertex algebra can be interpreted as the operator product algebra of a conformal field theory of central charge 24. In particular, there is an action of (two commuting copies of) the Virasoro algebra. In this paper, the authors show that the action extends to one of the super-Virasoro algebra with central charge 16.
