The problem of determining the snap and snap back pressures of thin shallow shells of revolution subject to uniform loading is considered. The deformation is modelled using Marguerre's equations and bifurcation and postbuckling analyses are undertaken. A finite element model of the deformation is given and results for snap back are presented.
