In a paper published quite recently [see Appl. Anal. 28, 181-197 (1988)] the author uses a new method of iterative chain approximations for solving operator equations in the space \(C(A,{\mathbb{R}}^ m)\) of continuous functions defined in a separable Hausdorff space A with codomain in \({\mathbb{R}}^ m\). In the present article, generalizations are obtained to operator equations in C(A,T) where A denotes a topological space and T is a partially ordered topological space or group. Considering e.g. the case \(T=L^ p\) \((1\leq p<\infty)\), it is possible to deduce existence theorems on maximal and minimal solutions for integral equations of the type \[ u(t)=u_ 0(t)+\int^{t^+}_{t_ 0}q(t^+,s,u)ds\quad (t\in I) \] where I is a real interval, \(t_ 0\in I\), \(t^+=\max \{t_ 0,t\}\). An essential feature about the used hypotheses is that continuity of the operators occuring in the equations at issue is nowhere explicitly assumed.
