Harmonic inner automorphisms of compact connected semisimple Lie groups (Q1124130)

We obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for any inner automorphisms of a compact connected semisimple Lie group G with some left invariant Riemannian metric g to be harmonic. As its applications, we then completely determine harmonic inner automorphisms of (SU(2),g) for every left invariant Riemannian metric g, and show that for any left invariant but not bi-invariant Riemannian metric g on SU(2), there always exist on (SU(2),g) both non-harmonic inner automorphisms and non- isometric but harmonic inner automorphisms.
