Here we give the biregular classification of pairs \((S,L)\) with \(S\) a smooth projective surface over a positive characteristic base field, \(L\) a very ample line bundle on \(S\) and the sectional genus of \(L\) is \(\leq 5\). The proofs use a characteristic \(p\) extension of the techniques related to the adjunction mapping. For further relevant positive characteristic works (for singular surfaces and Bogomolov-Reider techniques) see respectively the authors, Reine Angew. Math. 417, 77-85 (1991; Zbl 0721.14027) and \textit{N. I. Shepherd-Barron}, ``Unstable vector bundles and linear systems on surfaces in characteristic \(p\)'', Invent. Math. 106, No. 2, 243-262 (1991).
