For a bounded linear operator \(A\) on a Complex Banach Space \(X\), let \(\sigma(A)\) denote the spectrum of \(A\) and \[ \varrho(A)=\max_{\lambda \in \sigma (A)}\mid \lambda \mid, \nu(A)=\min_{\lambda \in \sigma (A)}\mid \lambda \mid \] Also, for \(x\in X\) let \(\varrho(A,x)=\lim\sup\parallel A^ mx\parallel ^{1/m}\) denote the local spectral radius of \(A\) at \(x\); and for \(S\subset X\), \(\nu(A,S)=\inf_{x\in S\setminus \{0\}}\varrho(A,x)\). For a \(C^*\)- algebra \(C\), let \(K\) be the cone of all self-adjoint elements of the form \(aa^*\), and \(K_ 0\) be the interior of \(K\). The main result of the paper is Theorem. If \(A:C\to C\) is a bounded positive linear operator, then \[ \varrho (A)=\inf_{k\in K_ 0}\varrho(k^{-1}Ak)\text{ and }\nu(A',K')=\sup_{k\in K_ 0}\nu(k^{-1}Ak), \] where \(A'\) is the conjugate of \(A\) and \(K'\) is the cone of bounded non-negative linear functionals with respect to \(K\).
