The original coherence theorems concerned monoidal categories and symmetric monoidal categories, which may be regarded as analogues of monoids and commutative monoids. The first supercoherence theorem of this paper is an analogous result concerning pseudo-simplicial categories, which are analogous to simplicial sets. For example, a monoidal category generates a pseudo-simplicial category, analogous to the nerve of a monoid. There is a similar supercoherence theorem concerning contravariant pseudo-functors on Segal's category \(\Gamma\). A pseudo-simplicial category generates a classifying space, and a contravariant pseudo-functor on \(\Gamma\) generates a spectrum in the sense of stable homotopy theory. The author gives several applications in homotopy theory and algebraic \(K\)-theory, including a generalized group completion theorem and a generalized Quillen \(S^{-1}S\) construction. He pays particular attention to Karoubi \(_ \varepsilon L\)-theory presheaves.
