In the Ising model on diamond-like hierarchical lattices the free energy \(F\) is given by \[ F=-{J \over 2}-{T \over 2}\sum_{n=0}^ \infty (2b)^{-n}\log(1+t_ n^ b), \] where \(b=2^{d-1}\), \(d\) is the dimension of the lattice, \(J\) is the interaction constant, \(T\) is the temperature, \(t_{n+1}=f(t_ n)\), \(f(t)=4t^ b/(1+t^ b)^ 2\), and \(t_ 0=\exp(-2J/bT)\). Denote by \(\Omega_ 0\) the immediate basin of attraction of the attracting fixed point 0 of \(f\). Then \(F\) can be continued analytically into \(\Omega_ 0\). In this paper, it is shown that \(F'\) is continuous up to the boundary of \(\Omega_ 0\) but \(F''\) is not. An explicit asymptotic expression for \(| F''(t)|\) as \(t\) tends to the boundary of \(\Omega_ 0\) through hyperbolic geodesics is also given.
