    Let \(\{p_ n\}^ \infty_ 0\) be a sequence of complex numbers such that \(P_ n:=\sum^ n_{\nu=0}p_ \nu\neq 0\) for all \(n\). Then the triangular matrix \(A=(\alpha_{n\nu})\) with \(\alpha_{n\nu}=p_{n- \nu}/P_ n\) for \(0\leq\nu\leq n\) and \(\alpha_{n\nu}=0\) for \(\nu>n\) generates the Nörlund-method \((N,p)\). Let \(f(z)=\sum^ \infty_{\nu=0}a_ \nu z^ \nu\) be a power series with radius of convergence 1 and \[ \sigma_ n(z):=P_ n^{-1}\sum^ n_{\nu=0}p_{n-\nu}s_ \nu(z),\quad s_ \nu(z):=\sum^ \nu_{\mu=0}a_ \mu z^ \mu, \] its Nörlund transforms. The author proves the equivalence of i) \(\lim_{n\to\infty}p_ n/P_ n=\alpha\in\mathbb{C}\) and ii) the \((N,p)\) transforms \(\{\sigma_ n(z)\}\) of the geometric sequence \(\{z^ n\}\) are compactly convergent in \(| z|<1/|1-\alpha|\) to \(\sigma(z)=\alpha/(1-(1-\alpha)z)\). An analogous result holds for each power series \(f(z)\) with radius of convergence 1. Furthermore, the growth of \(\{\sigma_ n(z)\}\) ouside the domain of convergence is investigated and it is shown that under the condition i) with \(\alpha\neq 1\{\sigma_ n(z)\}\) can at least converge pointwise outside the circle \(| z|=1/| z-\alpha|\).
