Orthogonal polynomials, associated polynomials and functions of the second kind (Q1184796)

A survey is given of the interaction between orthogonal polynomials on the real line, associated polynomials and functions of the second kind, with an emphasis on asymptotic results. Various formulas are presented in terms of Wronskians or Casorati determinants of solutions of linear recurrence relations. Most of the formulas are old but hard to locate in the literature. Some new formulas are also given. Notice that the numerator of the integrand in (2.14) should read \(p_ n(x)p_{k-1}(y)-p_ n(y)p_{k-1}(x)\).
