    The authors consider weighted norm inequalities for multilinear operators acting on \(L^p\) spaces. The main result can be stated as follows. Theorem. Let \((X_j,\Sigma_j,\mu_j)\) be \(\sigma\)-finite measure spaces for \(j=1,\ldots,n+1\). Let \(w_1,\ldots,w_n\) and \(v\) be weight functions on \(X_1,\ldots,X_n, X_{n+1}\), respectively. Suppose that \(1< p_1,\ldots,p_n<\infty\) and \(1\leq q<\infty\) and \(1/q\geq \sum^n_{j=1} 1/p_j\). Let \(M: P(X_1)\times\cdots\times P(X_n)\to P(X_{n+1})\) be a multilinear, monotone continuous operator. Then, \(M\) satisfies \(\| M(f_1,\ldots,f_n)\|_{q,v}\leq \prod^ n_{j=1} \| f_ j\|_{p_ j,w_ j}\) if and only if for each \(C>1\), the weights \(w_ j\) and \(v\) can be expressed in the form \(w_ j= \prod^{n+1}_{t=0} w_{tj}^{\theta_ t}\), \(j=1,\dots,n\), and \(v=\prod^{n+1}_{t=0} v^{\theta_t}_t\), where \(\theta_0= 1- 1/q\), \(\theta_t= 1/p_t\), \(t=1,\ldots,n\), \(\theta_{n+1}= 1/q- \sum^n_{j=1} 1/p_j\), and the weight functions \(w_{t1},\dots,w_{tn}\) and \(v_t\) satisfy \(M(w^{- 1}_{0,1},\dots,w_{0,n}^{-1})\leq C v_0^{-1}\) a.e., \(M*^{(t)}(w_{t1}^{-1},\dots,v_ t,w_{t,t+1}^{- 1},\dots,w_{tn}^{-1})\leq C w_{tt}\), a.e., \(t=1,\dots,n\), and \(\int_{X_{n+1}} M(w_{n+1,1}^{-1},\dots,w_{n+1,n}^{-1}) v_{n+1} \,d\mu_{n+1}\leq C\). The theorem extends to the multilinear case a result of \textit{E. Gagliardo} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 16, 429--434 (1965; Zbl 0161.32404)]. For details we must refer to this interesting paper.
