A fully discrete method is proposed for a logarithmic-kernel integral equation of the first kind on a smooth curve. The method uses two levels of numerical quadrature. First, a trapezoidal rule is used for the integral containing the logarithmic singularity. Thus, the equation is solved with a Petrov-Galerkin method using periodic smoothest splines and a discrete inner product. A convergence and stability analysis is given. The predicted order of convergence is verified in numerical examples.
