    The author gives a proof of the known theorem [\textit{J. H. McKay} and \textit{S. S.-S. Wang}, J. Pure Appl. Algebra 52, No. 1/2, 103-119 (1988; Zbl 0664.13001) and \textit{W. Li} [ibid. 60, No. 3, 269-272 (1989; Zbl 0691.13018)] that a \(\mathbb{C}\)- automorphism \(f=(f_ 1,\dots,f_ n)\) of the ring \(\mathbb{C}[x_ 1,\dots,x_ n]\) is completely determined by its face polynomials \[ f_ 1(0,x_ 2,\dots,x_ n),\dots,f_ 1(x_ 1,\dots,x_{n-1},0),\;f_ 2(0,x_ 2,\dots,x_ n),\dots,f_ n(x_ 1,\dots,x_ n,0) \] . As a consequence, he gives a proof of the known inversion formula for two complex variables [\textit{J. H. McKay} and \textit{S. S.-S. Wang}, J. Pure Appl. Algebra 40, 245-257 (1986; Zbl 0622.13003)] and \textit{L. M. Drużkowski}, Bull. Soc. Sci. Lett. Łódź 37, No. 4, 1-7 (1987; Zbl 0661.32006)]. The author wrongly states in the abstract and in the introduction that he gives a multi-variable case of the inversion formula.
