A derivation, based upon fundamental ``particle-counting'' arguments, of a spatially continuous (nonlinear-integro differential) equation, that is satisfied by the kernel of the reflection operator associated with a rectangular region in the four-compass-point discrete-directional model, is proposed. Motivations as well as conclusions illustrating the relationships with previous papers are suitably presented.
