    Rings whose (proper) cyclic modules are self injective, \(\pi\)-injective (= quasi-continuous), continuous, or CS have been studied by many authors including \textit{V. K. Goel} and \textit{S. K. Jain} [Commun. Algebra 6, 59-73 (1978; Zbl 0368.16010)], \textit{V. K. Goel, S. K. Jain} and \textit{S. Singh} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 53, 16-18 (1975; Zbl 0313.16025)] \textit{S. K. Jain} and \textit{S. Mohamed} [J. Indian Math. Soc. 42, 197-202 (1978; Zbl 0472.16009)], \textit{G. B. Klatt} and \textit{L. S. Levy} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 137, 407-419 (1969; Zbl 0176.316)], \textit{A. Koehler} [Q. J. Math., Oxf. II. Ser. 25, 51-55 (1974; Zbl 0281.16014)], \textit{B. L. Osofsky} and \textit{P. F. Smith} [J. Algebra 139, 342-354 (1991; Zbl 0737.16001)], and others. The authors prove the very interesting result that finitely generated self-projective modules \(M\) whose factor modules are \(\pi\)-injective have a decomposition \(M = M_ 0 \oplus M_ 1\oplus M_ 2\) where \(M_ 0\), \(M_ 1\), and \(M_ 2\) are pairwise fully invariant; \(M_ 0\) is semisimple, \(M_ 1\) is a direct sum of nonsimple uniserial submodules whose endomorphism rings are division rings and \(M_ 2\) is a direct sum of uniform submodules whose endomorphism rings are not division rings. (If \(N_ 1 \cap N_ 2 = (0)\), \(N_ 1\), \(N_ 2\) are called fully invariant if and only if there are no nonzero homomorphism between them).
