G. Grice (1968) has proposed a simple modelling scheme for response time distributions. His scheme is based upon five assumptions on randomness and independence. This paper shows that the Grice modelling scheme is a descriptive theoretical language rather than an empirically falsifiable model. Also it clarifies the meaning and proper usage of fundamental notions of RT modelling. The appendix includes outlines of proofs of the main theorems.
